Dear Attorneys,

I am getting a divorce, and I am worried about my assets. I have saved every penny throughout this marriage, and my spouse seems to want a portion of that. Will I be forced to give my hard earned money away? I just don’t understand.

Sincerely,

Frugal & Frustrated

Dear Frugal,

While we are very sorry to hear about your divorce, and commend you for saving so much throughout your marriage, you may in fact need to distribute some of those funds. Money accrued during a marriage is considered “marital property” and your spouse may be entitled to a portion of whatever you’ve saved since the day you wed. It’s hard to discuss finances without the proper documentation to review, so we recommend that you set up a consultation! We would be happy to go over your matter with you. We can be reached at 203.745.3151 or info@wolfandshorelaw.com.

Very Truly Yours,

Wolf & Shore Law Group
