Many people do not know what educational advocacy really is. This is a niche field, where a third party is hired to advocate for your child’s educational needs. Using an attorney as an educational advocate is a typical occurrence. They can not only help get your child the services they need, but also understand the law surrounding education.

What you may not know is that having an educational advocate is extremely common, especially for parents who have children with special needs. Kids that require a little extra help often need someone to be on their side, and make sure their needs are being met.

Educational advocates attend Planning and Placement Team Meetings (PPTs), speak with administrators on your behalf, discuss services with guidance counselors or school psychologists. Should your child ever face suspension or expulsion, and educational advocate would go to any hearing or meeting in connection with those incidents.

Having an educational advocate that also specializes in child protection matters may just give you the leg up you need when it comes to dealing with the school system. In child protection matters you see many of the same issues come up with schools and other providers.

With over 20 years of combined experience in child protection and educational advocacy, and even serving as assigned counsel for the Office of Chief Public Defenders, Attorneys Wolf and Shore are ready to help you tackle all of your children’s needs!
