February Firm Outing: Charcuterie Class

Cultivating Camaraderie:

How Our Law Firm’s Charcuterie Board Class Strengthened Team Bonds

Each month, we close the office for at least part of a day and do an in-person Firm Outing.  Since we work remotely, we enjoy getting together with our staff in person and treating them to something fun. We will be doing a blog series on these outings so that you can follow our fun team-bonding adventures at Wolf & Shore Law Group.

In the fast-paced world of law, where cases and clients demand our attention with unwavering persistence, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind. However, at Wolf & Shore Law Group, fostering a sense of camaraderie among team members is paramount. We recognize the importance of nurturing strong relationships within our team, not just for the sake of productivity but for the overall well-being of our firm. That’s why we decided to step away from our desks and delve into a unique team-building experience: a charcuterie board class.

Why charcuterie, you might ask? Well, it’s not just about the art of arranging cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments on a board.  It’s about collaboration, creativity, and communication – skills that are just as crucial in the legal realm as they are in the kitchen.

Led by Kayty Helgerson, owner of Gather: Intentional Living, we got together to learn hosting tips and the art of assembling beautiful charcuterie boards.  Kayty explained that it’s not just a board of meat and cheese. Rather, it’s a reason for friends and family to gather and celebrate, even if it’s “just” to celebrate the little things.

But it wasn’t just about assembling ingredients; it was about working together as a team. As lawyers, we’re accustomed to analyzing facts, constructing arguments, and advocating for our clients. This gave us a chance to analyze options, construct a beautiful aesthetic and enjoy some office-wide bonding time. Amidst the laughter and friendly banter, we discovered newfound talents and shared anecdotes that brought us closer together.

As the class drew to a close, we stood back to admire our handiwork – a vibrant tapestry of colors, textures, and flavors meticulously arranged. But more importantly, we walked away with a deeper sense of camaraderie and a renewed appreciation for the individuals we call colleagues. So, to all the law firms out there seeking to bolster team cohesion and morale, consider thinking outside the box – or in this case, outside the courtroom. Whether it’s through culinary adventures, outdoor excursions, or creative workshops, investing in team-building experiences can yield invaluable returns, both professionally and personally.

At Wolf & Shore Law Group, we are grateful for such a fun team to do these activities with. Remember, in law as in life, collaboration is key, and sometimes, it’s best served with a side of cheese and charcuterie.
