Dear Attorneys,

I know with the holidays coming up, the courts are closed on certain days. I think my lawyer’s office is closed a few days, too. What do I do if I have an emergency situation on a holiday?

Sincerely,

Holiday Harry

Dear Holiday,

A lot of people have this concern around the holidays. Ultimately, neither the court, nor an attorney’s office (at least in family law) can help you during an actual emergency. If you ever feel as though you, or your children, are in danger, then you should call the police right away. You can always leave your lawyer a voicemail or an email to see when they re-open the office. Depending on the type of emergency, your lawyer may recommend a restraining order. However, that cannot be filed (or obviously acted on) until the courts re-open anyway.  Courthouses in Connecticut are usually closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  Wolf & Shore Law Group is closed those days, as well as the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, December 26th and New Year’s Eve to ensure that our staff can enjoy spending time with their families.  We check messages as soon as we re-open and we are more than happy to help our clients at that time.

Wolf & Shore Law Group is here to help you make your family law matters easier, not harder.  We are realistic and direct with our clients. We encourage potential clients to seek out a firm where they will feel comfortable and confident. Ever argue with a woman? Let Wolf & Shore Law Group go to work for you. Call us at 203.745.3151 or email us at info@wolfandshorelaw.com.

Very Truly Yours,

Wolf & Shore Law Group
